The Music of Jasmine Arielle Barnes

Reality, Race, and Religion is a concert debuting a variety of works written by composer Jasmine Barnes. This concert is aimed to take the listener on a musical journey of life. The Songs, categorized into these three topics, speak on various aspects of each category. The Creative team has aimed to partner the listening experience of the concert with the visual experience. Come listen and feel the experience of Reality, Race, and Religion.

SNO Plays TED

Symphony Number One will perform at TEDxMidAtlantic 2017 on October 28, 2017. Music Director Jordan Randall Smith will give a TED talk on classical music, followed by a world premiere by SNO Composer-in-Residence, Ben Goldberg. SNO joins an all-star lineup including Senator Tim Kaine, Mindy Fullilove, Jackie Savitz, and more.

Symphony Number One will perform on Saturday, October 28 between Noon and 3 PM EST.

A Taste of Symphony Number One

This unique evening brings together the music of Symphony Number One and the culinary talent of The Center Club's Chef Bannan. Come meet the musicians and music director Jordan Randall Smith over a glass of wine and seasonal hors d’oeuvres specially created for this evening by the Club’s culinary team. Then stay and listen to a performance of Symphony Number One’s works and an as-yet unreleased recording of music. You’ll hear great classical music, fantastic but lesser known music by African American composers and even a piece from one of Symphony Number One’s composers.
